Helping Surgeons Improve Technical Skills
CCS receives a number of questions about surgeons who need to improve their technical skills. Instead of trying to find a facility where the surgeon can practice on actual patients, CCS works with the surgeon to create an educational process that includes training via simulator. The learning activities can be individualized to incorporate the requirements set forth by a hospital or licensing body.
About Surgical Simulators
Surgical simulators can provide information that may be detailed beyond what could be ascertained through an assessment of skills during an actual surgery. The level of sophistication available with some simulation equipment can decrease reliance on evaluative clinical discussions of technique and approach. Information and feedback about technique, skills, and physical strength and coordination issues is available in some simulators. The level of difficulty can be increased to better address the sophisticated needs of an experienced surgical population.
